Tom was born to a Pureblood witch whose husband had left her after being relieved of his love potion-induced love. She died giving birth to him, prompting Tom to be raised in a Muggle Orphanage wherein he wrecked havoc on the other children and staff there. At age eleven, he was properly introduced to the world of magic and attended Hogwarts like any normal wizard. While there, he was sorted into his ancestor's house - Slytherin - and grew to be a model student in all but Professor Dumbledore and most Gryffindor's eyes. He wrecked havoc there as well, though slyly and right underneath everyone's noses. After having graduated from Hogwarts, he travelled for a bit and returned only to work in Borgin and Burkes - refusing various proposals from the ministry in the process. Years later though, he earned a position in Hogwarts and use it as a means of hiding one of his Horcruxes in the Room of Requirement.

Now, he is working towards a bigger goal.

The eradication of all muggles and muggleborns from existence.
